NYDA appoints Kubheka CEO to lead youth job creation and economic empowerment efforts.
The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) has appointed Ndumiso Kubheka as its new CEO. Kubheka’s arrival agrees with South Africa's youth unemployment rate reaching a record high. The popular economist and strategist Kubheka has extensive background in trade, commerce and public policy.
Kubheka is currently the chair of the board at The Da Vinci Institute and has managed KH Equity Partners. In addition, he is a member of the board of Moody's Investor Services South Africa and participates in innovation platforms such as the Top Technology 100 Program and the South African Bureau of Standards.
The NYDA expects that Kubheka's leadership will give the organization new energy and focus. Executive Chairperson Asanda Luwaca says his appointment shows an improved commitment to making youth the focal focus of South Africa's development goals. According to the NYDA, Kubheka's background in economic policy and governance will be helpful in addressing the important issues that young South Africans face namely the dearth of employment possibilities obstacles to starting a business and restricted access to skill development in the market.
The Presidency and the local administration have acknowledged Kubheka's efforts to empower young people. Among his many academic credentials are an MBA and a BCom Honours in Economics. Mafiki Duma, who served as acting CEO throughout the transfer, was also acknowledged by the agency. The organization's stability during the last few months was credited to her leadership. Kubheka, who recently took over as CEO says he is dedicated to giving young people more chances and helping them get involved in the nation's economy.
