Khamenei and Netanyahu claim victory in ongoing conflict, sparking global political tensions.
In a powerful statement, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei blamed U.S. President Donald Trump for making unrealistic claims about the impact of U.S. attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities. Khamenei, in his first public appearance since a ceasefire between the war with Israel, brushed aside Trump's assertions that the strikes had critically hurt Iran's nuclear program. He said the strikes had "done nothing significant" to Iran's nuclear facilities, denying Trump's claims that the attacks have set Iran back decades.
Trump, however, insisted the U.S. bombings had destroyed key Iranian nuclear sites, including the Fordo enrichment plant. He also denied speculation that Iran could have extracted atomic material from the facilities before the raids, asserting that the uranium was too heavy and dangerous to move.
Khamenei’s leadership in Iran was evident as he rejected these claims, asserting that Iran had emerged victorious from the conflict. He emphasized that Iran's retaliation had "dealt a severe slap to the face of America," reinforcing his strong stance against the U.S. and Israel. At the same time, controversy surrounding the real effect of the American airstrikes continues to provoke political and intelligence debate. Leaked information hinted that the damage to Iran's nuclear program may not be as drastic as previously assumed, perhaps putting Iran back only a few months.
Both Khamenei and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared victory in the conflict, emphasizing the leadership style differences in the region. While Netanyahu is convinced that Israel's missile strikes "thwarted" Iran's nuclear plans, Khamenei insists that Iran has demonstrated its power and endurance against external forces. The conflict, now bringing into focus both leadership tactics, continues to shape the diplomatic landscape, with both sides projecting their dominance amid growing tensions.
