Strategic acquisition enhances digital manufacturing and automation for European semiconductor industry.
Accenture has bought SYSTEMA, a Dresden-based software solutions provider, to enhance its automation services for the semiconductor and high-tech sectors. The acquisition is intended to assist European manufacturers of semiconductors in optimizing their production processes without having to construct completely new factories.
SYSTEMA is a leader in Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and legacy system integration. Its capabilities will complement Accenture's Industry X offerings, which are centered on digitizing engineering and manufacturing processes. SYSTEMA's more than 240 experienced professionals will come under Accenture's umbrella to assist customers in the semiconductor industry as part of other sectors such as aerospace, automotive, food and beverage, and specialty chemicals.
Semiconductors are critical pieces in nearly every technology industry. Yet most semiconductor plants continue to employ older systems. SYSTEMA aids by integrating these legacy systems with new technology, layering data analysis and optimization to make things more efficient and less expensive.
Christina Raab, lead for Accenture's market unit for Austria, Switzerland, and Germany, stated, "Semiconductors touch almost every industry. SYSTEMA's specialty skills add to our focus on driving automation and modernization throughout the value chain." Sarat Maitin, regional leader of Industry X, said, "It's not merely a technology acquisition. It's about enabling manufacturers—ranging from semiconductor fabs to other manufacturing plants—to future-proof their businesses and compete effectively in an uncertain global economy.
SYSTEMA's CEO, Manfred Austen, emphasized the advantages of becoming part of Accenture: "With Accenture's size and expertise in AI, data, and engineering, we can provide even greater value to our long-term clients." The deal reinforces Accenture's leadership in Europe's semiconductor market and accelerates the increasing need for digital automation and intelligent manufacturing solutions.
