Roslansky's expanded role signals Microsoft's strategic push to unify productivity and AI across platforms.
Ryan Roslansky, the CEO of LinkedIn, has been named to head the Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 Copilot teams in a major leadership change at Microsoft. The action demonstrates the company's growing emphasis on AI across all of its productivity platforms.
Roslansky, who announced the development on LinkedIn, will retain his role as CEO of the professional networking platform while expanding his leadership responsibilities within Microsoft. He will report to Rajesh Jha, Executive Vice President for Experiences and Devices, and continue to report directly to CEO Satya Nadella in his LinkedIn capacity.
The reshuffle also sees Charles Lamanna, Corporate Vice President for Business & Industry Copilot, moved to Jha's organization as part of the company’s strategy to integrate AI more deeply across its productivity tools.
Roslansky, the company's CEO since 2020, is seen as a natural choice to head Microsoft's flagship AI service given LinkedIn's recent quick adoption of generative AI features. LinkedIn has become a shining example of Microsoft's AI-driven portfolio transformation under his leadership.
“Office is one of the most iconic product suites in history,” Roslansky wrote. “Productivity, connection, and AI are converging at scale. I’m looking forward to redefining ourselves in this new world.”
Despite his expanded role, Microsoft indicated that LinkedIn will retain its operational independence, although some crossover is expected as both platforms evolve with AI at their core.
The leadership changes come as Microsoft continues to capitalize on AI-driven growth while also navigating internal restructuring, including recent job cuts aimed at streamlining operations.
