Pepsi Beverages recalls 19,203 cans of mislabelled Dr. Pepper Zero Sugar due to sugar content.
Pepsi Beverages Company, a licensed manufacturer of Keurig Dr Pepper products, has published a recall for 19,203 cans of Dr. Pepper Zero Sugar due to mislabeling. The cans labeled "Zero Sugar" actually have full sugar content, and this is a serious health hazard for consumers, especially diabetics or those allergic to sugar. The recall is for cans in 12 and 24-packs, best by February 16, 2026, and product code XXXXRS05165. These cans were shipped to Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) originally defined the recall as voluntary, but later upgraded it to a Class II recall after considering the potential health risks. A Class II recall refers to the fact that while exposure to the product is likely to have temporary or reversible health effects, serious or long-term health risks are improbable.
The labelling mistake would cause severe illness to individuals who drink the product without knowing that sugar is in the product, for example, individuals with diabetes or individuals on sugar-free diets. Dr. Pepper Zero Sugar, from the name, should be sugar-free, so this mistake is especially worrying for individuals depending on the label of the product to keep them safe.
Consumers who bought the product in question should return it to the point of purchase for a refund. Other Dr. Pepper brands that are produced by Pepsi Beverages are not part of this recall. The company assured the public that they are collaborating with the FDA and working closely together to resolve the issue and put measures in place to prevent future incidents.
This recall is only days after Coca-Cola issued a comparable recall of its Topo Chico mineral water for possible bacterial contamination, highlighting persistent concerns over product safety in the food and beverage sector.
