Joanna Wasmuth leads USA for IOM to strengthen global support for displaced communities.
The United Nations' International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a U.S. based NGO has appointed Joanna Wasmuth as its next chief executive officer. Wasmuth has over 25 years of experience in nonprofit leadership and international development and she is well-known for her efforts to forge solid alliances and assist marginalized communities around the globe.
Wasmuth will lead the USA for IOM to improve cooperation between many sectors at a time when global displacement is hitting all the time highs. Wasmuth’s objective is to strengthen leaderships that help IOM save lives and provide sustainable solutions for those displaced from their homes.
Wasmuth's leadership was commended by IOM Director General Amy Pope who called her creative and courageous. In order to fund initiatives that safeguard and allow displaced people around the world, USA for IOM seeks to broaden its network of businesses, foundations, and philanthropists under Wasmuth's direction in the market.
Wasmuth said she feels privileged to be in charge of the company at this important time. She is excited to cooperate closely with communities and partners to create long lasting solutions that improve the quality of life for displaced families. Before joining USA for IOM, Wasmuth held important positions at Vision Fund International and World Vision where he worked on combating human trafficking and facilitating economic growth.
Wasmuth was greeted by Anne Richard as a former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State and member of the USA for IOM board who highlighted her experience and eagerness for stating important humanitarian objectives. For more than three decades, USA for IOM has contributed to the collection of funds to support communities impacted by trafficking, conflict and other disasters as well as millions of displaced individuals through IOM's worldwide operations.
