IBM's AskIAM uses AI to simplify, secure, and modernize enterprise identity and access management.
IBM has formally introduced AskIAM which is a new generative AI feature designed to change identity and access management (IAM) for businesses. AskIAM, which is combined within the IBM Consulting Advantage platform, is made to computerize and simplify important IAM procedures assisting companies in increasing productivity and strengthening security.
With more and more companies operating in hybrid and multi-cloud environments, identity sprawl and credential abuse has become significant security concerns. According to IBM's X-Force Threat Intelligence Index, attackers now increasingly commonly get access using authentic identifications rather than conventional hacking, demonstrating the urgent need for better access control solutions.
By providing a natural language interface for managers and users to request, approve and manage access in real time directly through platforms like Slack and Microsoft Teams AskIAM tackles this issue. It facilitates privileged access management (PAM), restructures user and application onboarding, and expedites compliance by offering transparent insight into access decisions and workflows.
The solution enables integration with top IAM solutions, such as IBM Verify, Microsoft Entra, Saviynt, SailPoint, CyberArk, and Delinea and is based on IBM's Watsonx Assistant. Deployment across on-premise, cloud or hybrid systems is made possible by its open, architecture-neutral design.
AskIAM improves control over automation and makes the transition to modern platforms easier by analyzing legacy systems, custom scripts and existing IAM configurations. They also support clients switching from antiquated IAM platforms like SAP Identity Management and CA platforms.
IBM aims to help clients reduce identity-related risks by reducing human labor and putting in place a more secure, efficient access control strategy by combining AI with its vast IAM consulting experience. AskIAM is a major breakthrough in terms of combining identity governance with the growing demands of digital transformation and AI adoption.
