Grupo Bimbo advances environmental goals, with electric fleets, zero waste, and regenerative farming while improving food quality and community support across 28 countries.
The largest bakers in the world, Grupo Bimbo, celebrated World Environment Day by presenting its annual report titled "Actions that Transform." Highlighting the company's advancements in its environmental goals for 2030 and 2050, an important part of the stronger Nourishing a Better World plan.
Regenerative agriculture, zero waste, and zero net carbon emissions are the three main pillars of the “For Nature” program, which is the focus of this report. Grupo Bimbo's growth in environmentally friendly transport is an important achievement. With nearly 4,200 electric automobiles and its 7,757 other fuel-powered automobiles, the company has become the largest electric transport company in Mexico and Latin America.
According to the company's Zero Waste pillar, 94% of its material packaging can be recycled. By 2025, the company aims to make its entire packaging biodegradable or recyclable. In addition, 80 of its manufacturing sites and bakeries currently send no waste to landfills. Furthermore, Grupo Bimbo, by using regenerative methods, has developed regenerative agriculture on nearly 300,000 hectares of farmland. By 2050, the company hopes to procure all of its essential ingredients from regenerative farming.
Grupo Bimbo stressed the achievements in its “For You” and “For Life” program along with its commitment to the environment. 99% of common products are now made without artificial flavors and colors under the "For You" program. Through its "Good Neighbor" program, the company supported around 530,000 people in 28 countries by finishing 267 community projects through For Life.
