Volvo’s PU500 energy storage provides power for EVs, construction, and disaster areas with fast charging.
Volvo has introduced a curious energy storage system that may satisfy the charging requirements at any time and wherever, even in the event that the power supply is disrupted by natural catastrophes or other weather-related incidents.
The PU500 Battery Energy Storage System is the name of Volvo's stationary battery. It has the capacity to store up to 500 kWh of energy, as the name implies. This is more than sufficient to power residences, factories, and even construction sites constructed to operate in natural disaster-prone locations, according to the Swedish company's energy business.
Or just enough to drive a concert or any other entertainment show if you like to stick to more agreeable topics. And for drivers of electric vehicles who are far from a plug, it might be a blessing. Up to 240 kW of power can be received and supplied by the PU500. The unit itself should be able to fully charge in a few hours, and that is sufficient to charge the majority of EVs in only a few minutes. The Volvo FH Electric is an electric truck made in Sweden.
Niklas Thulin, the stationary systems manager at Volvo Energy, explained that the PU500, equipped with an integrated CCS2-type charger, is compatible with all electrical equipment on the market, regardless of the manufacturer. He emphasized that this compatibility allows any device, including electric vehicles, to be powered, significantly enhancing the flexibility of the product.
Additionally, it is designed to work with many EVs. Up to 20 electric cars can be recharged by the PU500's large lithium-ion battery in a single day. As an alternative, it can provide electrons to three electric trucks or even construction equipment like wheel loaders.
Volvo stated that the device would receive digital services that will allow users to schedule and monitor its charging processes, but it has not yet stated when the device will go on sale.
