Empowering farmers and advancing sustainable coffee practices through major investment in Vietnam
Nestlé Vietnam declared that it was finalizing a significant investment of around VND 1,900 billion ($73 million) to increase the production capacity of its coffee facility in Tri An, located in the province of Dong Nai. The move comes under a broader scheme, since the company would inject approximately VND 4,300 billion ($165.4 million) between 2024-2025 to boost output capacity as well as update technology at the plant.
The Tri An factory is reported to be one of Nestlé's most modern coffee factories. Nestlé anticipates that this additional investment would raise the value of Vietnamese farm products, particularly coffee. The corporation will invest a total of about VND 20,200 billion, or $777 million, in Vietnam as a result of this expansion.
Binu Jacob, the managing director of Nestlé Vietnam, said the long-term investment of Nestlé is a demonstration of faith in Vietnam's potential and cooperation for sustainable development. Binu Jacob further added that Nestlé has been investing in the growth of Vietnam for more than 30 years and will keep investing in human resources, technology, and community-based initiatives.
Nestlé's commitment to sustainability can also be seen in its Nescafé Plan. The program has a positive influence on over 21,000 Vietnamese coffee farming families by making them aware of better farming methods. It helps farmers to cultivate more with less water and fewer chemical fertilizers, with farming that is environmentally sustainable.
As it invests in additional coffee production, Nestlé's intention is not only to scale up coffee output but also to provide more jobs and contribute to the local communities. The expansion will make Vietnam an even greater global contributor to Nestlé's global coffee supply network.
Nestlé's initiative is an exhibit of how multinational corporations are able to contribute to the country's local economy while being both environmentally and community-conscious.
