Ericsson extends managed services with Zain Bahrain to enhance 4G/5G network efficiency and sustainability.
An agreement has been reached between Ericsson and Zain Bahrain to extend the country's 4G and 5G networks. In order to maximize network efficiency and improve client experiences, this deal will also prolong their Managed Services partnership for an extra three years.
Ericsson's energy efficient Radio Access Network (RAN) devices, such as the dual-band Massive MIMO AIR 3229 and triple-band Radio 4466, will be used in the extension of the mobile broadband network. These devices will help Zain Bahrain meet its sustainability goals by increasing network coverage, capacity, and energy consumption by up to 20%. This project is a component of Zain Bahrain's larger investment approach with Ericsson, which aims to further the nation's goals for digital transformation.
Ericsson will keep using approaches that are driven by data to optimize procedures, enhance service metrics, and shorten time as part of the extended Managed Services contract. In order to improve the network's capacity and capabilities, the agreement also calls for modernizing the core network and implementing Ericsson's cloud-native Evolved Packet Core (EPC), which is a component of the company's dual-mode 5G Core solution, as well as a modernized cloud-native Unified Data Management function.
Nicolas Blixell, Vice President and Head of Gulf Council Countries at Ericsson Middle East and Africa, expressed pride in extending a partnership of over ten years with Zain Bahrain, supporting their ambitious network expansion and innovation initiatives. He added that the technologies introduced through this agreement not only enhance network performance but also lay the foundation for future network capabilities. Blixell stated that Ericsson is helping Zain Bahrain deliver exceptional future-ready services to its customers in Bahrain by combining advanced solutions with sustainable inventions.
