Funding fuels global growth of EMFS-powered networks for underwater data transmission.
CSignum, a Scotland-based networking company specializing in underwater wireless communication, has raised £6 million ($8 million) in a Series A funding round. The investment, led by Archangels, Par Equity, and Scottish Enterprise, marks a major step forward in the development and deployment of the company’s EM-2 product portfolio.
CSignum’s groundbreaking technology leverages patented electromagnetic field signalling (EMFS) to transmit data wirelessly through challenging environments such as water, ice, soil, and concrete. This innovation addresses one of the most persistent challenges in the networking industry: achieving reliable, real-time communication in environments where traditional wireless signals fail.
According to CSignum, the fresh capital will accelerate product development, support global expansion, and meet increasing demand for robust data transmission solutions in underwater and underground settings. Applications of the technology include water quality monitoring, under-ship systems, and critical infrastructure security, particularly for offshore wind turbines and oil and gas platforms.
