Isha Ambani is expressing confidence as Reliance Industries Chairman names Gayatri Vasudeva Yadav as Group CMO.
The chairman of Reliance Industries Ltd. named Gayatri Vasudeva Yadav as the Group Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President of Strategic Initiatives. According to Isha Ambani, daughter of Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani and a company board director, Yadav comes to the firm from Peak XV Partners (formerly Sequoia India and SEA).
Yadav, who graduated from IIM Calcutta, began her career in brand management with Procter & Gamble and then developed it at General Mills India. As Chief Marketing Officer, she was instrumental in bringing the Pillsbury brand to the Indian market and influenced the early development of the fledgling packaged goods industry. When she was named Chief Marketing Officer at Sequoia in 2020, she also managed the marketing division.
She played a significant role in developing the marketing plan for Star India. She oversaw landmark initiatives like the launch of Star Sports and Hotstar and spearheaded the popular "Nayi Soch" brand campaign on Star Plus, which emphasized the empowerment of women.
Yadav was welcomed to the team by Isha Ambani, who said that Gayatri had joined from Peak XV Partners (previously Sequoia India and SEA), where she had been instrumental in the brand shift and had helped portfolio firms build and scale world-class brands that were emerging from the area.
Isha Ambani conveyed her confidence that Gayatri would offer new insights and dynamic leadership, motivating the teams and driving them toward greater success and growth. She encouraged everyone to join her in wishing Gayatri all the best and much success in her new role. Isha Ambani continued to say, "Gayatri has proven to be a remarkable combination of creative storytelling, data-driven strategies, and customer-centric approaches to achieve quantifiable outcomes.”
