The Kia Syros will elevate the sub-4 meter compact SUV segment with advanced technology and competitive pricing.
Kia is set to unveil its much-anticipated Syros on December 19, 2024, marking its entry into the popular sub-4 meter compact SUV segment in India. Positioned between the Kia Sonet and the Seltos, the Syros aims to capture the attention of SUV enthusiasts with its modern design and high-tech features. The new model will offer advanced safety and comfort features, including a panoramic sunroof and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), making it a strong contender in a market that accounts for nearly 30% of car sales in India.
The Kia Syros sports a bold, boxy design that includes vertically positioned LED headlamps, sleek LED DRLs, and muscular bumpers. The rear design is enhanced with LED taillamps, while the flush door handles and black wheel cladding add a premium feel. Alloy wheels of 17 inches are expected to be there, which will give it a stylish yet rugged look. Among its other features, Syros provides a more spacious second row and is thus more comfortable compared to its sibling Kia Sonet.
The teasers have revealed that the Syros will arrive with the latest features on board, such as a touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, wireless charging, Type-C USB ports, and front parking sensors. It will also have the 360-degree camera system along with a new multi-function steering wheel.
Powertrain for Syros will be mated with a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that will be capable of producing 120 PS, and a 1.5-litre diesel powerplant with 116 PS. Transmission options could well be a 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT, 6-speed automatic, and a 7-speed DCT. The company is planning to pitch the Syros between Rs 9 lakh and Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom), which will set it in a competitive line in the sub-4 meter SUV segment.
This debut will further strengthen Kia's presence in India's rapidly growing compact SUV market.
