Burro partners with GEODNET to enhance its autonomous robots' precision in agriculture using RTK GPS technology.
Burro, the leader in agricultural robotics, announced a strategic partnership with GEODNET, a blockchain company specializing in precise GPS solutions, to integrate GEODNET's advanced Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) GPS technology into Burro's autonomous robots. This partnership will help improve the precision and efficiency of Burro's robots, designed for autonomous material transport in agricultural environments, such as nurseries, fields, and farms.
Burro's robots, currently utilizing AI, computer vision, and LiDAR, are used to execute activities with the highest precision; the introduction of GEODNET's RTK corrections will allow for even better navigation accuracy. RTK technology, which is essential in locations where GPS coverage is imperative, means that Burro's robots can function seamlessly in more challenging environments.
Kevin Leiter, Chief Operating Officer at Burro, said that this partnership is very important as it provides their customers with cost-effective GPS solutions and allows them to deploy new base stations quickly, which improves flexibility and operational efficiency. "This partnership gives our customers access to cost-effective GPS corrections and the ability to expand coverage on demand by deploying new base stations in days, not weeks or months," he noted.
This improvement of GPS accessibility for agriculture can be seen in the incorporation of RTK technology highlighted by Mike Horton, who is the founder of GEODNET. "This will ensure precision and reliability by integrating GEODNET's RTK technology for Burro's robots, advancing the accessibility of high-performance GPS in agriculture," he said.
This collaboration is yet another major step forward in utilizing GPS technology in agriculture, further strengthening the capabilities of robot systems that are transforming agricultural practice. The robots manufactured by Burro, once enabled with GEODNET's RTK technology, will then have more efficient farming operations, thereby enhancing productivity and reducing labors challenges in agriculture.
