Broncos Dominate Saints in 'Thursday Night Football' Showdown

Denver secures a convincing 33-10 victory, raising questions about New Orleans' struggling season.

The Thursday Night Football contest will be defined by the Denver Broncos as they thrash the New Orleans Saints 33-10, boosting their record to 4-3 in what will be a significant turnaround for Denver. The Broncos will have head coach Sean Payton facing his old team, but for the evening, he only wanted to dictate a methodical pace in attack and tightly defend the Denver backfield.

Though not the flashiest offense, the Broncos did consistently move the ball and run it pretty well without giving it away very much. Far removed were the shenanigans of Last week's botched experiment in that role-the likely rookie quarterback Bo Nix was far from perfect, but he made some good reads and benefited from a strong defensive effort by Denver, who shall play Patrick Surtain II.

Now 2-5, the Saints were brought back to hard reality as they extend their losing streak to five. Key players include quarterback Derek Carr and several receivers who were victims of injuries that left New Orleans toiling without any ability to maintain its momentum. Defensive lapse and missed tackles led to their problems, and that raises flags with critics questioning head coach Dennis Allen's team.

On the bright side of things for Denver, kicker Wil Lutz, who was traded from the Saints, had a great game; he connected on all four of his field-goal attempts. The Saints, however, were underwhelming, and their inability to move themselves in this game and inability to stop Denver shows how tough their road ahead is.
