  • Sanju Samson previously won the award in March 2026

Shubman Gill’s fifth ICC award sets a new record, making him the first player to win the ICC Player of the Month honour five times. The Indian batter earned the honour after his strong performances during the month, adding another achievement to his career. The award also reflects Gill’s growing influence in Indian cricket, his leadership on the field, and his ability to deliver when the team needs him.

According to MSN, Gill earned the award following a series of strong performances against the West Indies in the ODI. His unbeaten double century in the second match helped India chase down 406 runs and played a key role in securing his fifth ICC Player of the Month award.

Gill now leads the ICC Player of the Month awards with five wins. This achievement adds to his growing list of career milestones and reflects his strong performances in international cricket. Other players will now have a new record to chase.

“It feels fantastic to win my fifth ICC Player of the Month award, and I am grateful to the panel for this honour,” said Shubman Gill, India’s Test and ODI captain.

Abhishek Sharma made a strong impression in India’s T20I series against Afghanistan, scoring 82, 39 and 108 across three matches. His century was the highlight of the series. However, he had a disappointing outing against Japan, getting out for a golden duck in India’s first T20I against the team in Sano.

Sikandar Raza had a good run against Australia in September, scoring runs in all three ODIs and taking three wickets. He made valuable contributions with both his batting and bowling throughout the series, making him a strong contender for the ICC Player of the Month award.

Sanju Samson was the last Indian to win the ICC Player of the Month award in March 2026. His performances in the T20 World Cup helped him earn the award, with strong knocks against New Zealand, England and the West Indies. The award added another notable achievement to his sports career.

Business Honor observes that Gill’s latest award highlights how individual performances can shape a player’s standing in international cricket.
