Google is set to extend its AI Overviews feature, initially launched in the United States in May, to six new countries including India. This feature aims to enhance web search efficiency by providing AI-generated summaries of content, helping users quickly access relevant information.
The expansion will see AI Overviews introduced in India, the United Kingdom, Japan, Indonesia, Mexico, and Brazil. In India, the feature will support both English and Hindi, offering a bilingual toggle for easy language switching and a Text-To-Speech option for listening to search results. These updates follow positive feedback from early adopters in the U.S., who found the feature particularly useful for exploring complex topics and discovering diverse content. Indian users have shown a strong preference for the AI Overviews' listening function, utilizing it more frequently than users in other regions. Google’s rollout plan includes further enhancements to the search experience, such as displaying relevant website links on the right-hand side of AI Overviews on desktop and within the AI text on mobile. These additions aim to streamline access to pertinent content and improve overall user engagement.
By incorporating user feedback and adapting features for different markets, Google is enhancing the accessibility and effectiveness of its search tools globally. The full rollout of AI Overviews is expected to be completed over the coming weeks.
