The veteran singer is under medical observation after his latest performance, with reports pointing to possible dehydration.
Lionel Richie had been admitted to a hospital in St. Louis after his performance at The Muny in Forest Park on August 29. The 77-year-old artist had himself admitted to a nearby hospital for some medical tests after his performance.
TMZ reports that the musician has been admitted to the intensive care unit. Doctors are checking for slight dehydration as the cause of his illness, but the singer's reps have not yet made a public announcement. It is reported that Lionel Richie is doing well.
In the middle of the concert, it became clear that Richie seemed to have trouble toward the end of his performance, as he asked his people to get him a chair and performed his last song from a sitting position; the song was titled “All Night Long.”
This latest hospitalization follows a second health incident that Richie faced recently when he performed in St. Paul, Minnesota, on June 24. He announced to his fans that he felt dizzy and strange at that time.
After that, the doctors recommended that Richie rest and recuperate. Richie's upcoming gigs in Chicago and Columbus, Ohio, were rescheduled. Richie made his comeback in Pittsburgh on June 30 and continued his summer tour. He spoke to his fans on July 4, thanked them for their support, and assured them that he was fine.

It has been said that Richie is expected to be discharged from the hospital very soon.
