ABC has denied reports that Jimmy Kimmel Live! is ending, saying any news about the show's future is currently speculative.

Page Six reported that, according to an insider, ABC will not renew comedian Jimmy Kimmel's contract beyond 2027, adding that the currently ongoing 24th season of the late-night talk show will be the last. Kimmel has hosted the late-night talk show for ABC since 2003.

A source close to Page Six stated that Jimmy Kimmel's contract was not renewed because the comedian signs annual contracts with the Disney-owned television network.

Yet, the spokesman for ABC Entertainment rejected the claims. According to The Hill, the spokesman said that the report was inaccurate and that any reports about the future of the show were purely speculative at this point.

Kimmel, who is a well-known critic of President Donald Trump, has frequently been at loggerheads with the President since he assumed office for the second time. President Trump had previously demanded that ABC remove Kimmel from the network owing to some comments made by the host on his show.

The late-night show host was temporarily taken off the air by Disney after making some comments about President Trump's reaction to the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The controversy also involved FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, who promised to take steps against ABC. Later, the FCC began an initial review of the broadcast licences for the network, while ABC’s attorneys accused the commission of trying to censor the network.

This controversy comes at a time when the traditional late-night television industry is facing uncertainty. In May, after a decade of political disagreements, Stephen Colbert's late-night show aired its last episode on CBS. Business Honor observes that the conflicting reports highlight continued uncertainty around Kimmel’s future at ABC, while the network has made clear that no decision has been confirmed.
