Amazon grocery delivery and retail growth is accelerating, powered by faster Amazon same day delivery, stronger grocery and pharmacy momentum, and rising AI shopping use.

  • Amazon grocery delivery and retail growth is accelerating fast.

  • Millions of new products added, including 700,000+ from big brands.

  • Amazon Haul in the U.S. surged nearly 20x since launch.

  • Prime Day pricing hit hard, with 80% of deals at the lowest yearly price.

  • Grocery growth is up for both fresh and shelf-stable items.

Amazon says its retail momentum is accelerating, powered by more products, faster delivery, stronger grocery and pharmacy performance, and rising AI shopping activity. The big theme is Amazon grocery delivery and retail growth that keeps tightening its grip on day-to-day shopping, with Amazon same day delivery and Amazon pharmacy delivery playing a key role.

Amazon reports it added millions of items to its catalog, including more than 700,000 from established brands. It also says Amazon Haul grew nearly 20 times in the U.S. since launch, with over 6 million products priced under $10. During Prime Day, Amazon points to strong customer response to its pricing strategy, claiming more than 80% of deals were at the lowest price of the year and hundreds of thousands of products were discounted by at least 40%.

Grocery is leading the visible gains. Amazon says it remains the second-largest grocery retailer in the United States and reports continued category growth across both perishable and non-perishable items. It says monthly active customers buying perishable groceries rose by more than 50% since the start of the year. It also claims orders that include perishable goods through same-day delivery averaged more than three times as many items per order, and fresh groceries accounted for 6 of the 20 best-selling products on Amazon.

Pharmacy momentum is rising alongside grocery. Amazon says new Amazon Pharmacy customers more than doubled in the first six months of the year. It also reports same-day prescription deliveries increased nearly fivefold. Amazon adds that it helped customers save almost $250 million in out-of-pocket prescription costs year to date, up more than 400% versus a year earlier.

Delivery improvements add fuel. Amazon says it achieved its fastest delivery performance in the first half of the year, with millions of products eligible for Prime same-day delivery, up to 40 times the selection it claims a large retail store typically offers. It also reports worldwide same-day or overnight completions increased by more than 40% year over year.

Then comes AI shopping. Amazon says 350 million customers used Alexa for Shopping over the past 12 months, with active users and interactions surging. It also expanded Amazon Lens into 10 more countries, bringing availability to 21. Business Honor asks If AI keeps steering choices and same-day speed keeps improving, who wins control of the shopping journey customers or the platform?
