Advanced Manufacturing Technologies and Training Set Stage for Kingdom's Automotive Industrial Transformation.
Rockwell Automation has joined forces with Lucid Motors to advance the construction of an electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Saudi Arabia. The use of modern manufacturing techniques will accelerate progress toward diversification of industry within Saudi Arabia through this partnership. Rockwell Automation will provide the FactoryTalk Manufacturing Execution System (MES) software for Lucid Motors' production operations in key areas including general assembly, paint, stamping, body assembly, and powertrain production enabling seamless oversight and efficiency of all operations.
The FactoryTalk MES platform will give Lucid Motors real-time visibility and traceability into their production operations as well as provide operational control of their manufacturing operations so that advanced manufacturing practices can be implemented within the new facility. This represents a significant milestone in modernizing automotive manufacturing capabilities within Saudi Arabia. In addition to MES implementation, Rockwell Automation will provide training opportunities for local resources who will participate in specialized training related to electric vehicle manufacturing. This training program will support Saudi Arabia's long-term strategy for developing its human capital and driving industrial growth within the automotive industry.
This demonstrates the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's goal to increase their variety of products available to consumers and to reduce dependence on oil-based product sales by providing the initial funding for Lucid Motors to create an advanced electric vehicle manufacturing facility that will begin construction as soon as possible. With this partnership, there is an opportunity for Saudi Arabia to establish them as an emerging leader in the global electric vehicle marketplace.
As a result, this partnership will serve as a launch pad for Lucid Motors, allowing them to create a advanced automation based manufacturing facility from which they can produce their composite electric vehicles using the latest technologies available and create a sustainable business model to support further technology transfer and industrial innovation in this region.
