NHAI Revolutionizes Highway Construction with Four Guinness World Records in Bengaluru-Kadapa Corridor Project.
There are incredible achievements by the NHAI in expanding its infrastructure base through Highway Construction for the construction of the Bengaluru-Kadapa-Vijayawada Economic Corridor NH-544G project, which includes four Guinness World Records. These milestones represent India’s commitment to developing infrastructure through improved technology for constructing roads. On January 6, 2023, NHAI earned two records for record breaking performance in laying Bituminous Concrete in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh. The first was for the longest continuous stretch of Bituminous Concrete laid in 28.89 Lane-KM in 24 Hours (a three-lane wide 9.63 km segment). The second record was for Laying the Largest Volume of Bituminous Concrete (10655 Metric Tonnes) in One Days.
The NHAI's first success led to two additional world records on January 11. The NHAI was able to successfully create a continuous operation in which it laid down 57,500 MT of Bituminous Concrete and completed a continuous paving operation of 156 Lane Kms for a 52 Kms of three-lane wide roadway. This new record created by the NHAI is significantly larger than the previous world record that was set at 84.4 Lane Kms. Most importantly, NHAI achieved strict compliance with its Quality Standards through constant oversight by premier institutions such as IIT Bombay as well as from the NHAI's original equipment suppliers.
M/s Rajpath Infracon Private Limited (Rajpath) was a partner with NHAI working as the Project Concessionaire. This partnership was instrumental in the NHAI's success in achieving record construction totals. The NHAI has made strides by showing that India has the capacity to undertake megaprojects for large-scale infrastructure construction through its ability to achieve precision, speed, and technology in the construction of highways. The new records that the NHAI has achieved highlight not only technical proficiency; they reaffirm India's commitment to providing the highest quality infrastructure in the fastest time possible. The new NHAI record demonstrates a stepping stone in India's effort to develop efficient roadway systems that will stimulate the economy through innovative engineering.
