Countywide events promote recycling education, Zero Waste goals, and community-wide environmental awareness all November.
This November, Miami-Dade's Department of Solid Waste Management will elevate its commitment to sustainability by expanding its America Recycles Day celebration into a month-long series of free, family-friendly events. The events are designed to engage residents across the county and raise awareness about the importance of recycling, teach residents how to Recycle Right, and support the Zero Waste goals of Miami-Dade County. For the first time, DSWM is hosting several events in neighborhoods across the county rather than a single large gathering. This will ensure that more families get a chance to participate, learn proper recycling habits, and contribute to keeping the community clean and green.
"This expanded celebration of America Recycles Day reflects our commitment to making recycling a part of everyday life in Miami-Dade," said Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. "By bringing these events into neighborhoods across the County, we're helping families recycle right and inspiring residents to take small actions that create big environmental change - advancing our Zero Waste goals, protecting our environment, and building a cleaner, healthier future for everyone."
Through interactive education, creative outreach programs, and hands-on activities, DSWM is working to make recycling an evermore accessible and enjoyable activity for all ages. DSWM Director Aneisha Daniel, PhD, emphasized the department's mission to combine practical education with innovative engagement. "By empowering our community with the knowledge and tools they need, we're driving waste diversion and building sustainable solutions that help create a greener, more resilient Miami-Dade," she said.
