A CEO discussion focused on improving the ease of doing business (EoDB) in India's developing data centre and AI sectors was held by Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal the previous day in New Delhi, India. Major business executives joined the discussion to improve digital infrastructure, simplify regulations, and bring in international investment in modern technology. Goyal shared the government's aim to position India as the worldwide hub for innovation based on data and AI excellence on social media after the meeting.
He wrote on X, "To increase investment in future technology, the discussion focuses on improving policies, simplifying regulations, and improving digital infrastructure." He added, “The initiative advances the goals of #ViksitBharat and a digital economy ready for the future.” According to officials, India is quickly establishing itself as an important worldwide hub for data centre’s. Mumbai is now the second most affordable city in the world for data centre construction, according to the Turner & Townsend Data Centre Construction Cost Index 2025.
India is one of the largest Asia-Pacific data centre markets after China, along with Japan and Singapore. Its cost advantages and strong legal support are expected to bring in billions of dollars in foreign investment. At the same time, India's AI sector continues to grow due to innovative businesses. Over ten huge autonomous AI agent projects have been carried out by Mumbai-based AI Overlords, that handles complex tasks like defense design, hiring, and logistics. India is building the smarter foundation of the future as well as a digital economy through growing data capacity and developing AI systems.
