The DRDO presents semiconductor technologies developed locally at ESTIC 2025 showcasing sustainable technology progress and enablement.

The Ministry of Defence stated that the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has progressed significantly in the field of semiconductor technology. It stated that DRDO has established native processes to leverage semiconductor technologies. "Semiconductors are important enablers in modern technology ecosystems, and are critical in some of the most demanding applications and sectors such as healthcare, communications, transport, defence and space," stated the Ministry. "DRDO has made considerable strides in the field of semiconductors through indigenization by developing technologies that produce 4-inch Silicon Carbide wafers, and fabricating Gallium Nitride High Electron Mobility Transistors up to 150W," it further stated.

DRDO will be attending the Emerging Science, Technology, and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) 2025, taking place at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi from November 3 - 5. As a major organizer, DRDO will also be chairing the thematic session of 'Electronics & Semiconductor Manufacturing'. Chairman Dr. Samir V Kamat will head a Technical Session on Electronics and Semiconductor Manufacturing on November 5. This conclave is themed 'Viksit Bharat 2047 Salient Sustainable Innovation, Accelerating Technology and Empowerment'. The Hon’able Prime Minister inaugurated the recently organized conclave on November 3.

At the inaugural session, the Prime Minister announced a Research Development and Innovation (RDI) Scheme Fund that is of Rs 1 lakh crore to build a research and innovation ecosystem led by the private sector and accelerate India's transition towards becoming a global science and technology hub. ESTIC 2025 has brought together more than 3000 participants from academia, research, industry and government, and also Nobel laureates, renowned scientists, innovators and policymakers.
