THASL’s campaign directly supports hotel bookings, targeting wealthy tourists through digital platforms in order to strengthen Sri Lanka’s tourism.
A global digital marketing campaign was launched by the Hotels Association of Sri Lanka (THASL) to promote direct hotel bookings through websites and attract foreign tourists. The campaign, that was developed in partnership with leading digital company eMarketingEye, targets major rising nations like Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Oman, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.
The three-year program, that is supported by American Express and Nations Trust Bank (NTB), aims to develop Sri Lanka as a year-round destination for wealthy tourists. The campaign's major landing page, "Truly Sri Lanka," connects travelers to partner hotels directly so they can look for offers and make bookings, increasing local hotels' exposure and conversions. M. Shanthikumar, president of THASL, stated that the business has long stood for a worldwide marketing effort at the national level. "THASL is actively targeting key markets in order to attract wealthy tourists and ensure steady growth, even though a larger campaign is expected soon," Shanthikumar said.
The program targets markets that are within a 4- to 5-hour flight, according to eMarketingEye CEO Rajitha Dahanayake, with the aim of attracting tourists all year rather than just during busy times. It is anticipated that the first phase, that would cost about USD 50,000 and last for three months, will improve Sri Lanka's position as a major tourism destination. Sheahan Daniel, the Executive Vice President of NTB, stated that tourism is important for the nation and expressed happiness in supporting THASL's worldwide marketing of Sri Lanka.
THASL, representing more than 70% of the official hotel sector, plays a major role in setting travel policies. Aiming to increase government revenue, employment, and foreign exchange gains. This suggests a time when Sri Lanka will use targeted marketing and digital innovation. In order to grow into a leading, international tourism destination that attracts wealthy travelers across the world.
