Mastercard launches Commerce Media that uses data, AI, and worldwide partnerships to offer personalized advertising to improve targeting.
The launch of Mastercard Commerce Media, a new digital platform aiming to support brand to consumer relations, marks Mastercard's entry into the personalized advertising market. Combining private data, modern technology, marketers, publishers, and customers by using Mastercard's role as a worldwide payments provider. Incorrect result measurement and a lack of customer information are two problems that Mastercard Commerce Media handles for advertisers. It carefully tracks sales and conversions both in-store and online using merchant connections and linked card technology.
It can be used through Mastercard's own channels along with its worldwide partners, like banks and publishers. Important partnerships include Microsoft's Copilot Studio, offering real-time, AI-powered shopping experiences; WPP to connect with traditional media; and Citi for increased reach. Customers can use their registered cards to activate specific deals from advertisers, like cashback, discounts, or rewards. This allows Mastercard to connect purchases to the advertisements that customers see. Ad performance and personalization are improved by additional technologies like Mastercard Marketing Services and Dynamic Yield.
Over 500 million registered customers and more than 25,000 marketers are available on the platform. Making use of data from 160 billion interactions that were handled in 2024. For advertisers in a variety of industries, like retail, travel, entertainment, food, and everyday shopping, Mastercard Commerce Media aims to offer accurate results. By 2026, Mastercard aims to join new digital wallets, points of sale, and worldwide markets. "Mastercard Commerce Media is a natural extension of the trustworthy links we're known for," stated Craig Vosburg, Chief Services Officer at Mastercard. According to Mastercard, advertising will interact with AI assistants, digital shopping, and biometric offers in the future, making purchasing easier, quicker, and more personalized than in the past.
