Unilever appoints Indian-origin Srinivas Phatak as its permanent Chief Financial Officer following a successful tenure as acting CFO.
British multinational consumer packaged goods company Unilever, in a recent press meet, has announced the permanent appointment of Indian-origin Srinivas Phatak as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He was previously serving as the acting CFO of the company.
Unilever stated that, in an unanimous agreement from the board, Srinivas fits as the best candidate for the CFO role, as he has vast industry and functional experience and has also performed exceptionally well during his tenure as acting CFO.
The company revealed that Mr. Phatak will receive an annual fixed pay of 1.75 million euros, along with an annual bonus, Performance Share Plan awards, and localization support.
Phatak has worked with Unilever for over 25 years, having joined the company in September 1999. He has worked across various parts of the business and corporate finance. Before becoming acting CFO, he served as deputy CFO and Controller. His appointment comes at a time when Unilever is set to launch its ice cream business later this year.
The 53-year-old took on the role of acting CFO at Unilever in February, following the unexpected removal of CEO Hein Schumacher. Previously, Phatak was CFO of Hindustan Unilever Limited and Vice President of Finance for South Asia from 2017 to mid-2021.
