Renee McGowan named CCO, International to lead Marsh McLennan’s global commercial strategy.
Marsh McLennan has appointed Renee McGowan as the company's new Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), International, from October 1. McGowan will oversee and deliver the company's commercial strategy for six major international regions: Asia, Europe, India, Middle East and Africa (IMEA), Latin America and the Caribbean, the Pacific, and the UK.
McGowan, who has spent 20 years at Marsh McLennan, is now the CEO of the IMEA region—a position she will hold until early 2026 before moving to Europe. She will report both to Flavio Piccolomini, CEO of Marsh McLennan International, and Hans van Heukelum, Global Chief Commercial Officer.
In the role of CCO, McGowan will concentrate on strengthening client relationships and driving integrated solutions in all four of Marsh McLennan's businesses: Marsh, Mercer, Guy Carpenter, and Oliver Wyman. Her new role is timely as the firm accelerates its international expansion outside North America to meet increasing client demand for integrated solutions to global risks such as climate change, regulatory pressures, and geopolitical uncertainty.
McGowan has deep international experience, having led in London, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, New York, and the UAE. Her strategic guidance of the IMEA region since 2023 has fueled growth, innovation, and improved client impact. "Renee's international leadership and commercial expertise position her perfectly to drive our global commercial strategy," said Piccolomini. "Her ability to collaborate will be critical in driving value to clients in various markets."
McGowan said her appointment was a chance to bring together the firm's global business under a consistent client-driven strategy. "Our people and capabilities are our greatest assets. I look forward to leveraging them to help clients and communities prosper," she stated.
