Voyager Technologies names Paul Tilghman as CTO to drive innovation and strategy amid market challenges.
Voyager Technologies, Inc. a defense tech firm with a market capitalization of $1.73 billion, has named Paul Tilghman as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), effective today. Tilghman, with extensive experience from past leadership positions in advanced defense and space technology, will be responsible for Voyager's technology direction and innovation for its ground, air, and space operations.
Tilghman comes to Voyager from Anduril Industries, where he was Chief Engineer of Connected Warfare. At Anduril, he spearheaded the launch of the Joint All-Domain Command and Control strategy and established a new Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations business segment. He previously oversaw DARPA's wireless AI research program and was in charge of contracting $350 million worth of national security-focused contracts. His experience also comprises leadership roles at Microsoft's Azure Space Connectivity and Lockheed Martin's Advanced Technology Laboratories.
In his new position, Tilghman will lead the company's technological advancement, balancing defense, commercial, and dual-use technologies and merging rapid AI adoption to remain ahead of emerging threats. Tilghman's appointment is taking place when Voyager is encountering market challenges, with its share falling 45.5% over the last six months. CEO Dylan Taylor does not see this as a cause for concern, though, citing Tilghman's special skill to translate innovative ideas into actual working systems.
"Space and defense need to accelerate in order to catch up with the threat speed, and success will depend on integrating defense, commercial and dual-use technology with fast AI adoption," Tilghman said in a corporate news release. Voyager's recent activities, such as the acquisition of ElectroMagnetic Systems, Inc. and investment in Latent AI, demonstrate the company's initiative to further enhance its technological capabilities under Tilghman's direction.
