Bill Hader leads a vibrant reimagining set to charm old fans and newcomers alike.
The new Cat in the Hat animated film's trailer has been generating a lot of buzz among fans, particularly those who just so happen to be retro fans of Dr. Seuss's classic stories. Action - packed for its release into theaters in 2026, the trailer features a very devoted and visually stunning re-telling of this classic story. The energetic animation style which intermixes 2D and 3D formats gives a new, dynamic spin to the classic characters, highlighting the project as the coming attractions reel of Warner Bros.' upcoming releases.
The film itself is a combination of CGI and stylized 2D animation and makes for a visually stunning and entertaining experience. It's a total departure from the live-action effort in 2003, when Mike Myers starred but couldn't match up with the magic of the original book. This one will surely charm old fans of Dr. Seuss works, as well as new ones who arrive, with its outstanding animation work.
Much better is the fact that this film can be described as the closest challenger to Pixar-quality animation movies. The production of the film is under Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and Dr. Seuss Enterprises, and the animation is offered by DNEG, a production company famous for quality animation. Directing duo Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja have not spared their efforts in taking the movie with a new style of 2.5D animation.
Bill Hader voices the Cat in the Hat in the title character, bringing the beloved figure to new life. His look is particularly ironic as he has already played the character for a Saturday Night Live sketch. Viewers of animated features such as Nimona and Gremlins will appreciate the distinctive animation style of DNEG, but the film succeeds in establishing its own identity. Set to release on February 27, 2026, The Cat in the Hat is shaping up to be a thrilling, well-maintained animated movie for longtime fans and new viewers to enjoy.
