Nepal advises citizens to avoid travel to Israel, Iran, and the Middle East due to rising tensions.
Nepal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has published a travel warning, advising Nepali nationals not to travel to Israel, Iran, or other Middle Eastern nations in view of the heightened tensions between Israel and Iran. The warning, published in the form of a press release on Wednesday, follows the raging situation in the region, which has become a cause of concern for the security of travelers.
The ministry has particularly informed Nepali nationals who were preparing to go to Israel and Iran for foreign employment or any other purposes to delay their departure until the situation is stable. Likewise, individuals planning to go to other nations in the Middle East have also been advised to reconsider travelling because of the current instability.
The MoFA has assured the Nepali citizens who are currently in Israel and Iran that they are safe at present, and the government is watching the situation very closely. In case there is an escalation, the government has promised to take necessary measures to protect its citizens' interest.
For Nepalis who want to return from Israel or Iran, the ministry cautioned that they might be required to have a third-country transit visa since direct routes are temporarily blocked. The government has also made an appeal for Nepali citizens in the affected regions to place their safety above all by remaining in shelters and adhering to security protocols laid down by the local governments.
The MoFA also called upon Nepali nationals in Iran and Israel to keep in touch with the Nepali Embassy regularly, keep themselves updated through official releases, and update their information on the online portal of the Ministry. Registration is important for monitoring, rescue, and assistance in times of crisis.
Against the backdrop of the delicate situation, the Ministry stays closely watchful of the situation and remains committed to the security and welfare of Nepali nationals overseas.
