Odisha introduces AI kits to monitor pregnancies, aiming to reduce maternal and infant deaths by detecting problems early.
The Odisha government is using artificial intelligence (AI) as an important move towards improving maternal and child healthcare by reducing the infant mortality rate (IMR) and maternal mortality ratio (MMR). AI-powered medical kits will be used by the Health and Family Welfare Department in tracking pregnant mothers' health from fertilization until delivery.
These kits, that have successfully completed testing, are meant for monitoring the fetus's mental and physical development. They have the ability to support quick treatment and recognize risks early. Even though Odisha has made significant advancements in reducing mother and infant death, still some regions need special consideration. One of the senior health official stated, "These AI kits can track the health of mothers and babies more accurately."
The government has placed orders for the kit after excellent results. Medical professionals can examine pregnant mothers with the AI-powered technology to receive immediate results. Especially in rural areas, these ideas may allow prompt action or distant discussions with experts. This program would start with a trial project in Rayagada and gradually spread to other districts, according to Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling. "This system will change the treatment of pregnant women, making it better and proactive," he stated.
To use the AI kits, healthcare providers and ASHAs will be supplied with cell phones and instructions. Central system will get the collected data and use AI to generate personalized health reports. Government aims for a future where maternal health is more secure and smart across the state by using AI not only for diagnosis but also for pregnancy at high-risk prediction and enhancement of services.
