Xpeng unveils its humanoid robot, Iron, at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, showcasing advanced AI and robotics.
At the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, Xpeng unveiled its advanced humanoid robot, Iron, establishing new standards in robotics with its advanced design and AI capabilities. Driven by Xpeng's proprietary Turing AI chip, Iron has impressive features, such as 60 joints, 200 degrees of freedom, and 3,000 TOPS of computing power. Such performance allows for smooth, natural motion and stable walking, enabling Iron to move freely in environments with flexibility and precision.
At 5 feet 8 inches tall and 154 pounds, Iron is roughly the same size as a human and has 22-degree freedom hands. This allows it to manipulate objects in fantastic ways, an essential characteristic for application in industrial and domestic environments. The robot has already been put into use on Xpeng's car assembly lines, assisting in the construction of electric vehicles.
Iron's top-notch mobility is driven by reinforcement learning and end-to-end large models, therefore it is able to do things in a human-like way of liveliness. The humanoid robot also has an innovative voice interaction system built from Xpeng's intelligent cockpit technology, therefore it can have natural and reasonable conversations with humans.
Its environmental perception comes in the form of its "Eagle Eye" vision system, which integrates advanced cameras with a 720° AI vision system, identical to that incorporated within Xpeng's autonomous driving solution. All of this assists in making informed real-time judgments depending on where Iron finds itself.
Xpeng envisions Iron as a multi-purpose personal assistant who can accomplish tasks across various industries, including retail, office activities, and home life. This robotics technology is the company's vision to merge smart mobility with smart robotics, driving the future of AI-powered robotics into the mainstream.
