Uttar Pradesh accelerates digitization of past revenue records to improve document administration and governance efficiency.
Uttar Pradesh, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is one step closer towards streamlining its administrative processes by accelerating the digitization of old revenue documents. The move, initiated by the Stamp and Registration Department, is to save important documents and make them easily accessible via digital document management.
The current project deals with scanning and storing revenue documents, especially those prior to 1990. With the work already in progress, the department is approaching this phase-wise as they digitize the documents for preservation in the long term. The deeds for 2002-2017 have already been successfully digitized until April 2025 to the extent of 95%. The next step includes digitizing 1990-2001 deeds, and the tendering process is being handled by UPDESCO.
This end-to-end document process management plan will go a long way in making the collection of revenue-related documents a lot simpler. With scanning and digitizing of records, the hassle of keeping huge paper documents in sub-registrar offices will be eliminated. Such paper copies will be shifted to a central record room, freeing office space and keeping records safe for centuries to come.
Chief Minister Adityanath's action is a step towards an overall digital governance plan aimed at increasing administrative efficiency and catering to the people better. The shift to digital documents will not only save time and cost but also increase transparency and access for citizens who have to refer documents.
This milestone document process management is a significant move towards a technology-aware Uttar Pradesh where government officials and the people will be aided by efficient processes of document management. The computerization of these essential documents is likely to improve governance and public service delivery in the state.
