Sculpteo launches eco-friendly PA12 S material for advanced 3D printing on HP’s MJF platform.
French 3D printing services company Sculpteo has broadened its materials portfolio with the introduction of PA12 S, a novel polyamide powder tailored to HP's Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) platform. Formulated and produced exclusively in France by chemical group Arkema, the new material is enhanced by high surface quality, mechanical strength, and eco-friendliness, embracing Sculpteo's ambition to drive 3D printing according to Europe's reindustrialization and green ambitions.
The PA12 S material provides various advantages over standard PA powders, primarily its spherical powder morphology that leads to smoother surfaces and less friction in printed components. Its performance characteristics are low moisture absorption, chemical resistance, mechanical strength, and thermal stability between -40°C and 120°C. These properties make PA12 S best suited for industrial applications like automotive fuel lines, chemical storage systems, and oil and gas components.
Sculpteo provides the PA12 S in two finishes: a raw grey finish suitable for prototyping purposes, and a dyed black satin finish that improves scratch resistance and appearance for end-use parts. This makes the material a credible alternative to injection-molded plastic for short to mid-volume production runs.
In addition to performance, sustainability is a key focus. The PA12 S material is fully recyclable through Sculpteo’s RE-Cycleo initiative, where unused parts are processed and converted into new raw materials via Arkema’s Virtucycle program.
With PA12 S, Sculpteo currently provides five MJF printing materials: PA11, PA12, PP, and TPU. The firm's larger range exceeds 75 material and finish options, demonstrating its leadership in on-demand, high-performance 3D printing across various industries.
