New update brings smarter task management and productivity tools to Wear OS smartwatches.
Samsung Galaxy Watch users could get a massive new update that brings fresh smart features to the device. According to a recent report, Samsung is going to release Gemini Actions in its upcoming One UI 8 update. The features will also be available for other Google Wear OS-running smartwatches.
Gemini Actions will enable users to do various tasks right on their smartwatches. For instance, users can control calendar events, see what the weather is like, and preview emails simply using their watch. They might also ask generic questions and receive useful answers on the move.
This information was uncovered by Android Authority and a developer named AssembleDebug. They analyzed the Google Assistant application using files from the leaked One UI 8 software. Within the code, they found multiple clues that indicate Google and Samsung are collaborating in an effort to introduce these new features into smartwatches.
One of the interesting features described in the report is the support for adding a Gemini Action as a tile on the watch. There is also a suggestion that users may be able to silence the voice of the assistant by tapping on the watch screen.
For the Galaxy Watches, Samsung is probably going to skip the One UI 7 update and go directly to One UI 8. As previously announced, Google plans to expand the use of Gemini to include tablets, headphones, and perhaps in-car infotainment systems. This indicates that Gemini might become the default virtual assistant on a whole host of Android-based devices pretty soon.
With these enhancements, smartwatches could become even more helpful in everyday life, keeping users in check and accomplishing tasks with ease.
