Tata Power signs PPA with NTPC, increasing clean energy capacity to 10.9 GW, adding 200 MW.
On April 15, investors will be watching shares of Tata Power which is a prominent integrated power provider and a member of the Tata Group, as the company hits 10.9 GW capacity after a PPA for a 200 MW Stable and Transportable Clean Energy Project was signed with NTPC Limited.
In its regulatory filing, the company stated that the project which spans multiple locations across India is scheduled for completion within 24 months. It is projected to generate around 1,300 million units (MUs) of electricity annually, thereby offsetting over 1 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year.
Awarded to TPREL through a competitive bidding process, the project will incorporate solar, wind and battery energy storage system (BESS) technologies. An important aspect of the initiative is its commitment to providing a 4-hour peak power supply with a minimum of 90% availability during peak demand periods aimed at supporting the increasing energy requirements of distribution companies.
The project has increased the company's overall renewable utility capacity to 10.9 GW. The 5.5 GW of this capacity that is now in operation is made up of 1 GW of wind energy and 4.5 GW of solar energy. Furthermore, according to the business, 5.4 GW are currently in different phases of implementation, with 2.7 GW of solar and 2.7 GW of wind projects equally distributed. The corporation anticipates that these ongoing initiatives will be finished in phases over the course of the next six to twenty-four months.
