Veteran executive takes charge of revenue operations amid Basware’s expansion and innovation push.
Basware, a global market leader in invoice lifecycle management, has appointed Mark McCarthy as its new Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). The move follows as the company continues to grow and further establishes itself as a market leader in the invoice automation industry.
McCarthy comes with more than three decades of experience in digital transformation and financial software. His experience involves senior leadership positions at large technology companies like SAP and Coupa, where he was instrumental in shaping commercial strategy and business growth. Before joining Basware in this role, he worked as Basware's chief of staff and operating partner at Accel-KKR, a private equity investor in Basware. His extensive familiarity with the operations and strategy of the company qualifies him to head the global revenue and go-to-market strategy.
In his statement, McCarthy expressed enthusiasm about his new role. “Basware has a rich history of innovation in invoice automation, and I’ve long admired its work from the outside,” he said. “As businesses face an increasingly complex financial environment, Basware’s role as a strategic partner has never been more vital. I’m excited to build on the strong foundation laid by Steve Canning and take our sales strategy to the next level.”
McCarthy replaces Steve Canning, who guided Basware to all-time growth and was instrumental in reinforcing its leadership status, such as a recent acknowledgment in the Gartner Magic Quadrant. In order to assist the business during the leadership changeover, Canning will move into a sales advisory position.
"It has been a privilege to lead Basware's sales strategy," Canning said, expressing his faith in McCarthy's ability to lead. I'm thrilled to see Mark take charge and pleased with what we've accomplished. His foresight and knowledge will be crucial in fostering ongoing success.
The shift in leadership at Basware demonstrates the company's commitment to innovation and client value in the rapidly evolving financial automation market.
