New system streamlines patient data, enhances care coordination, and boosts digital access.
Tietoevry Care has successfully implemented its Lifecare Electronic Health Record (EHR) system in Finland's Ostrobothnia wellbeing services county. This is a major breakthrough in terms of enhancing the management of healthcare records and information in the region.
Lifecare replaces six stand-alone client and patient record systems previously in operation across the various departments. Now with a shared common platform, approximately 176,000 residents of the county have equal and effective healthcare access. The conversion also aids 8,000 social and healthcare workers across the county by having instant access to patients and clients.
This is the ideal example of advanced document process management in medicine. By merging multiple systems into one, the county can now handle patient records more efficiently. This reduces mistakes, speeds up decision-making, and allows healthcare providers to better coordinate care. Instead of handling documents of different types or systems, it is all maintained and accessed in one digital portal.
Project leader Carola Wisur-Hokkanen explained that the change is more than introducing new tools. Standard procedures are also being brought in so patient data is always current and available to everyone involved in the care process. Even patients can be engaged in their own care by receiving their health data through electronic services.
Tietoevry Care Managing Director Ari Jarvela pointed out that the system was user needs-oriented and can be made to fit through open data models. This means the system is adaptable to support different workflows and even artificial intelligence tools in the future.
Through this major upgrade, Ostrobothnia has taken a giant step towards safe, efficient, and modern handling of documents in healthcare.
