Dremio Unveils AI-Powered Features for Data Management Optimization

Dremio brings new AI-driven features for increased data discovery, query optimization, and governance, revolutionizing data management.

Dremio, the pioneer of data lakehouse, has unveiled a series of new features that will revolutionize data discovery and data management. Unveiled at the Iceberg Summit 2025, the new features aim to maximize enterprises' data management and access, thus making it easier for organizations to use their data for analytics and AI.

Maybe the most significant addition is Autonomous Reflections, a query optimization feature that constantly monitors and tunes queries to have them execute against live, real-time data without manual tuning. It alleviates the time and effort historically involved in optimizing queries, which is a primary pain point for database management. It allows users to execute high-performance queries, especially in AI and analytics, without sacrificing data quality.

Dremio has also added AI-enabled Semantic Search, which cuts down data discovery time by orders of magnitude from days to seconds. It enables users—both human and AI agents—to query data in terms of industry-standard business vocabulary, simplifying the discovery of matching data assets within large datasets. By providing more intuitive data discovery, this tool simplifies searching for data used to train AI models, thus speeding up AI development pipelines.

In addition, Dremio has announced Iceberg Clustering, a feature that optimizes data layout in the Apache Iceberg open table format automatically. It does away with the requirement of manually partitioning data, making queries faster and saving manual tuning costs. Polaris Catalog, developed atop the Apache Polaris catalog for Iceberg tables, introduces strong data governance features in the form of fine-grained access controls as well as data lineage to maintain organizational compliance.
