Visa card collaborates with PVR INOX to launch mobile tap-to-pay and digital payment rewards across cinemas.
As a step to enhance digital payments in India's entertainment industry, Visa card has joined hands with PVR INOX to bring mobile tap-to-pay capability to 160 cinema venues across key cities. The initiative, which will continue for six months, is to provide customers with a seamless and contactless payment experience when buying tickets and food.
Visa cardholders are now able to utilize their Android smartphone's NFC functionality to perform easy payments without requiring a swipe or card insertion. The feature is designed and supported for current digital wallets, including Google Pay, Samsung Wallet, CRED, HDFC PayZapp, SBI Card app, and ICICI iMobile to support the convenient users to conduct seamless transactions.
To promote the usage of this mobile payment option, Visa has introduced appealing customer offers. For example, movie viewers who spend ₹1,000 or more on tickets at the box office will get a free popcorn and Pepsi bundle. Further, they will receive a 20% discount on food and beverages (up to ₹500) and an instant ₹200 discount on spends on F&B of ₹2,000 and above.
This service will be offered at some PVR INOX properties in key metro cities such as Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, and Pune. The objective is to encourage mobile-based digital payments, providing convenience and driving larger-scale adoption of cashless payments in India's entertainment sector.
Visa's tie-up with PVR INOX is a landmark in the direction of making payment experience better for consumers, making transactions easier and quicker and allowing mass adoption of digital payments across sectors.
