GreenGrahi aims to revolutionize animal and plant nutrition with sustainable insect-based biotechnology.
Agri-biotech venture GreenGrahi has raised Rs 32 crore in its recent funding round, led by early-stage investment firm Avaana Capital. The round was joined by a few investors, including Huddle, Campus Fund, Blume Founders Fund, and angel investors such as Nitin Sharma of Nexus Ventures and Sameer Brij Verma of Northpoint Capital.
The investment will assist GreenGrahi in expanding its insect biomanufacturing platform, growing its team, and driving international expansion. GreenGrahi is committed to creating sustainable and high-quality insect-derived products, which are gaining traction in the aquaculture, poultry, and pet nutrition industries. These products—e.g., insect-derived proteins, functional oils, and hydrolysates—are formulated to provide superior nutritional value, enhanced digestibility, and more stable pricing than conventional feed ingredients such as fishmeal and soy.
GreenGrahi was established in 2021 by Shivali Sugand and Siddharth Sharma and is transforming the biotech sector through the utilization of agricultural waste for the manufacture of insect-based products. GreenGrahi has also created biological agricultural inputs such as biopesticides, biofertilizers, and biostimulants to enhance soil fertility and crop yields.
GreenGrahi currently processes more than 10 clients in the animal and plant nutrition industries. Having Rs 560 crore worth of orders from these clients alone, the company is making efforts to expand its production. The startup's new plant, expected to be completed by the close of this year, will enable them to process 150 tons of raw material every day, boosting their production capacity 50 times.
The firm intends to enter overseas markets such as the U.S., U.K., and E.U., which will contribute 30-35% of their business. With the investment and new infrastructure, GreenGrahi intends to capture the increasing demand for eco-friendly, biotech-based solutions in agriculture and food.
