AirPods will soon offer live conversation translation through iOS 19 update.
Apple is set to roll out a brand-new feature for its AirPods with the upcoming iOS 19 update. According to a Bloomberg report, the new software update will introduce live conversation translation, enabling real-time translation during in-person interactions. This feature, previously available only on Google Pixel Buds, will allow AirPods users to understand conversations in foreign languages seamlessly, making communication across different languages easier than ever.
The live translation feature will require an iPhone, which will handle the translation process. AirPods will receive audio from the conversation, while the iPhone’s processor will translate the speech. The user will hear the translation through their AirPods, while the non-English speaker will hear their response translated from English through the iPhone’s speaker. This real-time interaction promises to enhance communication, particularly for those traveling or engaging in cross-language business discussions.
While the translation feature is an exciting addition, it’s not entirely new. Google Pixel Buds introduced a similar function back in 2017. However, Apple’s integration with AirPods brings a more seamless and widely available solution to users of the company’s popular wireless earbuds.
Apple is also working on expanding the capabilities of its AirPods lineup. In addition to this translation feature, recent reports suggest that Apple is developing AirPods with built-in cameras and health-monitoring features, including heart rate tracking. This is part of Apple’s ongoing effort to add more utility to its AirPods, positioning them as not just audio devices, but also as powerful, health-focused gadgets.
The upcoming update is expected to reach existing AirPods models, making it a significant step forward in the evolving world of translation software. Users will be able to enjoy the feature without needing new hardware, ensuring widespread accessibility.
