Amazon MGM Studios entrusts 007’s future to acclaimed producers Pascal and Heyman.
Amazon MGM Studios has made a statement that Hollywood powerhouse producers David Heyman and Amy Pascal will helm the James Bond franchise, the studio's first Bond installment since taking control of the iconic spy franchise creatively.
Pascal, who is perhaps most famous for making the current Spider-Man films with Tom Holland, and Heyman, producer of all eight Harry Potter films, bring significant experience to the iconic 007 franchise. Their hiring comes after the departure of long-time Bond guardians Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, who left earlier this year after decades of managing the series.
Pascal and Heyman, in a joint statement, referred to James Bond as "one of the most iconic characters in the history of cinema" and said that they were excited to carry its legacy forward. Courtenay Valenti, head of film at Amazon MGM Studios, said that the pair were "two of the most accomplished, experienced, and respected film producers in our industry.
Their casting represents a significant turning point for the Bond franchise, which has been in limbo since Daniel Craig's last foray in No Time to Die (2021). With no word on who will play 007 next, rumors are swirling, with candidates such as James Norton, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Theo James considered as favorites.
Apart from Bond, Pascal and Heyman continue to be extensively rooted in Hollywood. Pascal also produced Challengers with Zendaya and had an integral part to play in Spider-Verse the animated series. Heyman, on the other hand, works on the renewed Harry Potter reboot TV show as well as co-producing Klara and the Sun, Taika Waititi directing.
With Amazon MGM Studios fully in charge of the franchise, everyone is waiting for the next installment of 007, which will define the future of one of the most lasting brands in cinema.
