EPFO streamlines profile updates for 3.9 lakh members, reducing grievances and speeding up processing times.
For the benefit of Rs. 3.9 lakh members with outstanding requests, the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has made the process of updating member profiles much simpler. These members can now use the streamlined approach to cancel pending requests and submit them again. Under the simplified process, these members can now cancel pending requests and submit them again.
According to a Press Information Bureau (PIB) release dated January 19, 2025, approximately 27% of grievances filed by members are related to member profile/KYC issues. With the introduction of the revised JD functionality, a significant reduction in the number of grievances is expected.
The revised procedure allows members to amend their personal data on the EPFO portal if their Universal Account Number (UAN) has already been validated using Aadhaar. Without uploading any supporting documentation, members can change information including their name, date of birth, gender, country, father's or mother's name, marital status, spouse's name, joining and departing dates, and date of birth.
Changes formerly required employer verification, which resulted in delays of up to 28 days. Currently, 50% of requests only require employer approval without EPFO's assistance, while 45% of requests can be self-approved by members.
One important thing to keep in mind is that members need to confirm that their Aadhaar and PAN are linked to their EPF account before they can make any changes or withdrawals. Processing adjustments may take a few weeks, depending on the employer's and EPFO's response times.
By streamlining the procedure, this upgrade lowers errors and complaints while also making it faster and more convenient for EPF members. In certain situations, an employer's certification is not required.
