Alaska Airlines expands global network with new nonstop flights to Tokyo and Seoul.

Alaska Airlines is expanding its nonstop flight offerings by introducing direct flights from Seattle to Tokyo Narita, as well as Seattle and Seoul Incheon, scheduled to begin next year. The announcement was made on Tuesday, marking a significant step in the airline's ongoing efforts to expand its international network.

The flights will be operated in collaboration with Hawaiian Airlines, which will provide the widebody aircraft. Alaska will start with its daily flight from Seattle to Tokyo Narita on May 12, and the Seattle to Seoul Incheon service will start from October.

These routes are part of Alaska's ambitious plans to serve 12 international destinations with nonstop flights from its Seattle hub by 2030. "We believe our guests will be as excited as we are about these new nonstop flights to Tokyo and Seoul – two of the world's most dynamic cities," said Alaska Air Group CEO Ben Minicucci. "From our global gateway in Seattle, we can now easily connect travelers across our network who are headed to Asia and beyond, said Keith Parker.

As part of its plan, Alaska Airlines will also respond to changes in demand after the pandemic. The airline experienced softer demand on its Honolulu-Tokyo Narita route. This prompted it to move one of Hawaiian Airlines' widebody aircraft from the islands to Seattle for the new Tokyo and Seoul routes. The airline also plans to add more flights between Hawaii and Tokyo Haneda from 12 to 14.

In collaboration with Hawaiian Airlines, Alaska is also moving to increase domestic service in the mainland U.S and Hawaii. The company would increase seat capacity by 20% between Seattle-Honolulu, and another 25% on flights from Portland to Honolulu. New route additions will be on San Francisco-Kona, and Mainland-Līhuʻe on Kauaʻi routes.

An added network has strengthened Alaska Airlines's commitment to expanding international and domestic services, offering passengers more travel opportunities for Asia and Hawaii.
