Groundbreaking report reveals the strides and challenges of Premier League clubs in their quest for environmental sustainability.
Sport Positive has launched its much-anticipated 2023 Premier League Clubs Environmental Sustainability Report, offering an in-depth look at how all 20 Premier League clubs are tackling their environmental impact. Released on May 9, 2024, in London, this comprehensive report dives into thirteen critical areas including energy use, transportation, waste management, water conservation, plastics, food sourcing, and biodiversity. It also examines clubs' commitments, policies, reporting practices, communication efforts, education, procurement strategies, and sponsorships.
Marking its fifth year, this report not only celebrates the progress made but also identifies areas for improvement. With a user-friendly hyperlinked contents page, readers can easily explore data by club or category.
In line with the Premier League's new Environmental Sustainability Commitment, all clubs are required to establish comprehensive environmental policies by the 2024/25 season and to present detailed GHG emissions datasets by the 2025/26 season. Currently, six clubs are publishing their GHG emissions data, with others working toward full transparency.
