Zepto, led by CEO Aadit Palicha, aims for explosive growth and market dominance with a bold revenue target
Zepto, a rising star in India's quick commerce sector, is setting ambitious targets under the leadership of co-founder and CEO Aadit Palicha. Palicha envisions Zepto's revenue skyrocketing to Rs 2.5 lakh crore within the next 5-10 years, driven by robust execution of their business strategy.
Speaking at the 7th JIIF Foundation Day, Palicha highlighted the immense potential in the grocery and household essentials market, calling it the backbone of e-commerce giants like Flipkart and Amazon in India. He emphasized that this sector, currently valued at $650 billion in FY23 and growing at a steady 9 percent CAGR, is projected to reach $850 billion by FY29.
"The scale of the grocery and household essentials market surpasses all other combined categories on leading e-commerce platforms," Palicha noted. "Even if you double the size of electronics, apparel, and furniture categories, it still doesn't match the sheer magnitude of groceries."
Zepto's growth trajectory is impressive, with revenue surging over five-fold from Rs 2,000 crore in FY23 to surpass Rs 10,000 crore in FY24. Recently, the company raised $665 million in funding, valuing Zepto at $3.6 billion, nearly triple its valuation from the previous year. Plans for an imminent IPO are underway.
Palicha acknowledged the challenges ahead, particularly in hiring talent with the right attitude. Zepto plans to double its network of warehouses—dedicated to delivering groceries within a 10-minute radius—to over 700 by March 2025. This expansion will be funded by reinvesting profits from existing operations.
Currently holding a 29 percent market share in the 10-minute grocery delivery sector, Zepto aims to further solidify its position against competitors like Blinkit and Instamart. Palicha emphasized their focus on profitability, with 75 percent of stores already operating in the black.
"Our strategy hinges on sustainable growth while maintaining profitability," Palicha stated. "We are committed to expanding our reach and enhancing customer satisfaction as we scale into new cities."
